In December of 1975, 32 members of the Nesconset Christian Church congregation committed to a plan for the purpose of building a new church.  After over a year, the search for a location came to an end in April of 1976 when the 2.7 acre plot was purchased on Broadway Ave in Holbrook.  The Christian Church at Holbrook was officially founded on Sunday, September 19, 1976 at the Community Civic Center on Grundy Avenue and Terry Boulevard with 67 people in attendance.  All attended with the same goal in mind, building a church and reaching those far from Christ.  Today, our goal remains the same, building up our Church and spreading the word of Jesus Christ.

    Hi Nicole and Steve.

What We Believe

We believe that the gospel of Christ is the hope of the world, and it's the heart of the church to bring that hope to others.  This belief is the foundation of our Church and informs all who we preach, teach, and practice to.

  • God The Father

We believe that there is one true God, the creator of the universe and His love for mankind is everlasting. (Jeramiah 31:8; Romans 5:8; I John 3:1).  God's decisions are always right and truthful (Psalms 103:6; Zephaniah 3:5; Romans 2:2) and He always does what He says. (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalms 36:5; I Corinthians 1:9). God, eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 1:1,14; John 14:26; 1 Peter 1:2)

  • Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is God's only begotten Son (Matthew 3:17; Luke 1:35; Jn 1:34), was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:26-27), lived a sinless life, voluntarily died on the cross for our sins (Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 5:8; I John 3:1).  His body was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven (Matthew 16:21; Ephesians 1:19-20; I Peter 1:3).  One day,  Jesus will return at an unknown time to bring His followers into eternal life (Matthew 24:36-37; Hebrews 9:28; John 3:16).  Jesus desires that we remember His death through the sacrament of weekly communion each Sunday. (John 1:1-18; Acts 2:22-41; Philippians 2:1-11)

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son of God.  We receive God's Spirit when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. (Acts 2:38; I John 4:13).  The presence of the Holy Spirit lives in all believers in Christ. (John 14:17; I Corinthians 3:16).  The Holy Spirit provides direction (John 14:26; II Corinthians 1:21-22) and gives spiritual life to our lives. (John 6:63; I Peter 3:18).

  • The Holy Bible

We believe the Bible is God's inspired word and it was given to us to teach us who God is, who we are, and why we need a Savior (Genesis 1, 2; Romans 3:25-26; John 3:16)

We believe that the Bible is accurate and reliable, was written under direct inspiration from God, and is completely authoritative for all Christians. (Luke 1:1-4; I John 1:1-4)

  • Baptism

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts (Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22).

The Bible teaches that all believers must be baptized. (Matthew 28:19, John 3:5; Acts 2:38).  To be baptized means to be fully immersed under water. (Mark 1:9-10; Acts 8:36-39).  One must hear the Word, understand the Word, & decide for themselves to accept Christ and be baptized. (Acts 2:37-Acts 4; Romans 10:17)

  • Communion

The Lord's Supper: A unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross (Matthew 26:26-29; I Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-25).  During Jesus' Last Supper with His disciples, He instructed them to take it to remember Him. (Luke 22:17-20; I Corinthians 11:23-29)

Communion is served each Sunday to remember Jesus' sacrifice. (Act 20:7)

We Worship Him

The heartbeat of our worship ministry is to inspire people to encounter God. John 4:24 says that God is "seeking" or looking for true, authentic worshipers and this is the reason we desire to be a worshiping church. We want people to live a lifestyle of worship unto God on a daily basis, and we want to put Jesus at the center of our worship. Our music is contemporary and relevant and we invite all to come and worship freely unto Him
